Maths Pathway

New maths teaching model

A teenage boy in a school uniform and jacket in a classroom, who appears to be enjoying what he’s learning.

This project addresses the need to move teaching from the traditional one-size-fits-all model to teaching tailored to each student’s level of maths proficiency.

Teachers support their students to learn at their own pace and level of understanding.

The new learning and teaching model comprises: teacher professional development and continuous consultancy; a digital learning platform for students; a support platform for teachers providing data for activity planning; and a professional learning community (both in school and across the Maths Pathway network).

Participating schools see more than double the learning growth rate compared to traditional teaching models. Schools commit to scale the teaching model into all available year levels in future years, taking the model up with the first cohort year on year.
