A careers conference for girls in STEM

A classroom full of teenage schoolgirls, split into groups around tables, each group chatting with a female professional working in STEM.

This conference will enable 120 Year 9 and 10 girls from disadvantaged schools in Melbourne’s west to meet local and international female STEM career role models.

The two-day event comprises of keynote speakers, speed dating sessions with career models and practical activities using Ecolinc’s labs and other facilities.
The conference will also be supported by an online careers portal featuring female role models outlining their career pathways, workplace roles and career advice.

This project addresses the need to build STEM career awareness and aspirations of female students.

Ecolinc is a specialist STEM learning facility established by the Victorian State Government in 2006. It uses environmental themes to engage teachers and students in STEM teaching and learning.
