We’re supporting women’s footy at every level

From the AFLW superstars to the young dreamers running around at your local park, Toyota is a proud supporter of women’s footy at every level.

Our Good for Footy Raffle is one of the biggest grassroots sport fundraising events in the country and since 2012, we have helped raise more than $8 million for thousands of local clubs around the nation.

And over the last three seasons as female participation has skyrocketed, Toyota has kicked in to supply new jumpers and shorts for women’s and girls teams in need. We’ve given almost 300 teams brand-new uniforms designed specifically for female players, to help them feel confident playing the game they love... Now that’s Good for Footy!

Coburg Districts FC

Coburg Districts is a diverse and welcoming club that provides great opportunities for the local community to play Aussie Rules football. While many families currently involved in the club and new families wanting to join may find cost a barrier to participation, Toyota Good for Footy Gear Grants are proving to be a huge help. Without this funding, players must bear the increased cost of membership, uniform and equipment, which can lead to reduced numbers playing the game. Because women's football is still growing in the Coburg Districts area, the Toyota Gear Grants keep costs down, keep women playing and team numbers continuing to grow. That’s Good for Footy!

South Yarra FC

Female participation in Australian Rules football still has a long way to go at local club level, and South Yarra FC is determined to provide as many opportunities for women as possible. In 2021, a Toyota Good for Footy Gear Grant allowed South Yarra to take the burden of uniform costs off the players’ shoulders, so they could focus on playing and building a culture. The grant benefited 20+ players that made up a new women's team, many of whom may have been lost to sport without the opportunity to participate with a club like South Yarra. The team’s chosen jumper design, featuring a powerful rainbow above the club’s traditional lion, represents a strong statement about their inclusive culture.

Yarraville Seddon Eagles FC

In 2019, the Yarraville women's team played their first season of AFL footy, but the club was unable to find female-specific shorts, so all the girls had to play in mens shorts. In 2021, a Toyota Good for Footy Gear Grant covered the costs to supply all 28 players with new home and away shorts, designed specifically for female athletes. Not only was it a confidence boost to play in a kit that fits, but many of their team had lost income due to COVID and money was tight. The Toyota grant meant that more girls could come back and play in 2021 and beyond.

Edithvale Aspendale FC

The women at Edithvale Aspendale come to enjoy the social and competitive aspects of an inclusive, supportive footy club. They come in all shapes, ages and sizes, and many are mothers or older players, but traditional uniforms made for males do not support the changes nor diversity of women's bodies.


A Toyota Good for Footy Gear Grant meant that Edithvale Aspendale could support their women by making them feel comfortable in what they wear on match day. It’s all part of developing a culture of pride and passion. The Eagle female players love the opportunity to run out in their team colours, wearing a jumper and shorts that fit and feel comfortable, so they can play to the best of their ability.

Manor Lakes FC

The senior women's football team is the pride of the Manor Lakes club & community. Due to financial hardships in 2021, the club was forced to choose between funding a senior men's team or the women’s team. With several men’s teams in the surrounding area, but limited opportunities for women, Manor Lakes committed to senior women's football. The community response was overwhelming, with many new members signing up to play for the upcoming season. The Toyota Good for Footy Gear Grant allowed Manor Lakes to provide new uniforms to their senior team who had worn the same kit since 2015. These new jumpers mean so much to the girls who have stuck by Manor Lakes through thick and thin, and the club are proud to acknowledge Toyota as a major partner for being so supportive.
