Have you spoken with the police

Report the theft immediately. Have your details ready to file a report, including your vehicle's model, grade, colour, licence plate number, registration, and any identifying accessories or characteristics.

What to do first

There are a few important steps you can take straight away to help protect yourself, your claim and your vehicle.
Collect evidence

Collect any images or videos of the scene. It may be useful to request residential security camera recordings, local business CCTV footage, or active dashcam files from other vehicles parked in the area.
Contact your insurance company

Report your vehicle as stolen or lost to your insurance provider to initiate your claim. Share your official police report details, incident reference number, and any scene evidence or photos.
Contact Toyota

Some Toyota vehicles are equipped with tracking capabilities if you have subscribed to Stolen Vehicle TrackingCS15 through Toyota Connected Services. Speak with your Dealer or Toyota Connected Services to ask about vehicle tracking and support. If tracking was activated, call 1300 216 738 with your police report number, VIN, or registration.

What to do if your vehicle has been recovered

If your vehicle has been recovered, establishing its physical and digital security is a priority.
Don't assume it's safe
A recovered vehicle may have been tampered with, so have it checked before you rely on it or attempt to drive it normally.
Check plates and registration
If your licence plates were stolen, report them to the police immediately to receive an event number. Running a vehicle history report is also recommended to verify if its status has been recorded as stolen or written-off.
Confirm Police have released the vehicle
Only collect your vehicle when local law enforcement officially confirms it is ready for release. Police may need to hold the vehicle as evidence first to conduct forensic testing.
Call your insurer before collecting
If your vehicle has physical damage, has been towed, or requires active repairs, check the next steps and towing coverage details with your insurance provider before you move it from the recovery site.

Book an inspection

Reach out to your local Dealer or Toyota Authorised Repairer for help restoring your vehicle.
Assess vehicle integrity and locks

Ask your Dealer or authorised repairer to inspect all physical keys, door locks, the ignition, wiring looms, camera sensors, and check for any potential underbody damage sustained during the theft.
Reset digital access and security

Technicians should access your security settings to identify and remove any unknown Digital Keys* or unrecognised shared users. Enable Connected Services that may have been disabled.
