The Electric Actuated Locking Mechanism is activated via a dash-mounted switch - which means it can be easily turned on or off with the simple flick of a switch.

When it comes to four wheel driving, you don't always know what kind of road surface you'll meet. The FJ Cruiser allows you to actively change the way you drive based on different terrains so that you always have maximum control and limited slip.

And by activating the locking rear differential, you will be able to eliminate slip in the rear axle - which can produce better handling and stability when there's different ground traction under each wheel.

To save you trouble, the FJ Cruiser comes complete with intelligent 4WD technology which can do some of the hard work for you.

Active Traction Control (A-TRC)

Active Traction Control (A-TRC), can provide additional handling and control in your FJ Cruiser, when tackling off road situations. Since every environment is different and requires a different driving style, the Active Traction Control (A-TRC) system assists with Limited Slip Differential functionality by controlling brake pressure to slipping wheels when you're driving off road in the low range 4WD mode. When the rear differential is locked, this technology is automatically switched off - as is Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and the FJ Cruiser's Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).

Part Time 4WD

For maximum fuel efficiency, the FJ Cruiser has a Part Time 4WD system that can be engaged when required to provide better handling and control in off road situations.
