• AB-i: Active Braking with intelligence Yaris has big ideas on safety, and when it comes to braking, clever Yaris even does some of the thinking for you.

  Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i), standard across the entire range, includes technologies such as Anti-skid braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
  
  ABS helps prevent wheel lock-up, while EBD instinctively balances the brake force to each wheel according to the car's load and BA applies the optimum braking force during an emergency stop.

  

• Optimum protection with Toyota's Safe-T-Cell technology The clever structure deflects the force of an accident away from the driver and passengers, by helping to absorb crash energy.

  The Yaris build is based on Toyota's ingenious Safe-T-Cell structure which absorbs much of the force of a collision rather than transferring it to driver and passengers. It's all about crumple zones and energy absorbing material in the right places, should you ever need it.

• Protection for pedestrians as well The smart structure and design have been optimised to meet stringent pedestrian safety standards.

  The front of the Yaris - areas of the car most likely to be involved in an accident with a pedestrian - are impact-absorbing and shaped to minimise injury to pedestrians. In the event of an accident with someone on foot, these features help to reduce the severity of injuries to pedestrians.

• Peace of mind with the option of up to 7 Airbags With the option of up to 7 SRS airbags the Yaris offers full protection from the front and side.

  All models come with front SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger. But if you take up the Enhanced Safety Pack option you can get a total of up to 7 airbags. The Pack includes front, side and full-length curtain airbags, and with the hatch model you get the revolutionary inclusion of a driver's knee airbag.

  Yaris' 7 SRS airbags

• Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control For superb traction and control when accelerating and cornering.

  The Yaris is now even safer! Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)* and Traction Control (TRC)* now come standard with Yaris 1.5L vehicles. VSC and TRC work together for a smoother safer drive. VSC uses the braking and the engine output adjustments to automatically minimise under or over steering when cornering. TRC prevents the wheels from slipping when accelerating in difficult conditions – such as on wet or gravel roads.
