Toyota Yaris features Whiplash injury lessening seats

We've got your back

New Yaris hatches come with specially designed Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats. These are built on a new body hugging frame structure, which improves ride comfort and creates a sporty feel. They have also been cleverly shaped to give the driver the ideal driving position and reduce driver fatigue on long journeys.

If Yaris should be hit from behind, the front seats are constructed so that driver and front passenger sink down into their seats. Meanwhile the rigid back and 'frame design' headrest, act together to restrict waist and head movement. So that the classic whiplash movement caused by rear impact with the head being suddenly and unexpectedly 'whipped' forward and back again - is minimised.
