National Tree Day is a very important event on the Toyota calendar
Proudly supported by Toyota and co-founded by Planet Ark and Olivia Newton-John, National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day will this year celebrate 20 years of making a difference to the Australian environment. Since its inception, more than 3.5 million Aussies have planted some 21 million trees and shrubs across the country.
Through National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day, Toyota and Planet Ark hope to create a society in which people understand the value of their environment. In 2015, Planet Ark and Toyota will be looking to continue this tradition by encouraging Australians to plant and care for native trees and shrubs with the hope of surpassing the outstanding results of 2014 which saw around 300,000 Australians roll up their sleeves at schools and community sites to plant 1.4 million native trees, shrubs, grasses and edibles.
The success of 2014 was due in no small part to the record number of Toyota dealerships across Australia who got behind their local schools and communities by driving planting activities and adding some extra boots on the ground. The efforts of the dealerships, Toyota ambassadors, local schools, community groups and volunteers reaffirmed National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day as Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event.
