2005 Banksia Awards

Toyota Australia received a prestigious environmental Banksia Award at the ceremony held to coincide with World Environment Day on June 5th, 2005. Toyota Australia was a winner in Category 2: Business Environmental Responsibility & Leadership

With the vision and technology leadership of its parent company combined with the commitment and skills of its people, Toyota Australia has taken another step in its journey towards sustainability.

Applying the principle of continuous improvement to its manufacturing processes, Toyota Australia has now achieved the following results since 2000:

  • 30.5% reduction in waste to landfill
  • 4.7% reduction in energy consumption
  • 26.5% reduction in water consumption
  • 40.8% reduction in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions

However, more significantly, the key initiatives for 2004 represented a broadening of TMCA's environmental strategies beyond manufacturing to back office functions as well as to other parts of the distribution chain from suppliers to dealers.
