Prius c has a sophisticated braking system called Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i). It incorporates both Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) [B4].

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)

When the brakes are applied, Electronic Brake-force Distribution senses how weight is distributed in the car and automatically adjusts the front to back brake force accordingly.

When there is more weight on the front wheels (if there’s a heavy passenger in the front or if the car is moving downhill for example) EBD applies more brake force to the front wheels. Whereas if the boot is packed with luggage or you are moving uphill, EBD will apply more braking to the rear wheels.

Brake Assist (BA) [B4]

BA [B4] interprets an urgent push of the brake pedal as emergency braking and It supplements the braking power if the driver has not pushed hard enough, in order to achieve the shortest possible braking distance.

Toyota’s world class braking technology optimises your braking response on the road, helping you stay safe and in control in unexpected situations.
