When it comes to grunt, the Prado's turbo diesel doesn't disappoint. It produces 127kW of breath taking direct-injected power. So you have all the clout you need to tackle the toughest and most demanding of 4WD situations.
The Prado also gives you immense pulling power - the 3.0L turbo diesel engine delivers a jaw dropping 410Nm of torque so it will tow, boats, caravans, horseboxes, trailers laden down with gear and almost anything else with ease. It will also get you into and out of the kind of tricky off-road situations that other 4x4s would struggle with.
In spite of all the power it generates, the Prado's 3.0L turbo diesel engine has been designed to be frugal and uses fuel economically - the Prado five door with a manual transmission (only available on GX and GXL) delivers an impressive 8.8L/100km (or around 1700km per tank)# with the automatic doing slightly better.
