Serious features for serious off-road driving
There's no better way to experience the great Australian outdoors than to get off the bitumen and head off-road.
The Prado is equipped with a range of advanced, game changing off-road technologies and innovations which mean just about nowhere is out of bounds. So you can get out of the city and into the bush, with its ever-changing terrain and unexpected challenges to experience off-road driving at its most exhilarating and most liberating.
CRAWL technology

With the ZR and Kakadu, CRAWL Control technology comes as standard++. First seen on the LandCruiser 200, it's like an off-road cruise control.
Whether you're on your way down a slippery slope, on the rocks, in a river bed, or going through a swamp, you can take your foot off the pedals and set one of the 5 available speed settings. CRAWL Control helps make sure each wheel receives the optimum amount of power to keep you moving steadily on. All you have to do is steer.
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) is available on automatic models. It comes in pretty handy in on and off-road driving situations. Whether you're on a muddy trail high up in the Snowies, or just stopped at the lights high on an incline, HAC applies the brakes briefly to stop any backward movement for approximately five seconds.
The Up-Side of downhills

When you're driving off-road, going downhill can be as challenging as going up. The Prado's Downhill Assist Control (DAC) (available on automatic models only) automatically controls the brakes so that you'll take the descent at an even 5-7km/h speed safely, with each wheel braking individually. CRAWL Control works just as well going backwards as forwards.
