How do I tell when Toyota Service Advantage commenced for my vehicle?

Toyota Service Advantage is effective from the original registration of warranty start date which is recorded in your Warranty & Service Handbook.

Can I take my vehicle to any Dealership for Service or do I have to go back to where I purchased it from?

All eligible services can be carried out at any authorised Toyota Dealer in Australia for no more than the published price.

How frequently should I service my car?

Under normal operating conditions for locally manufactured Camry and Aurion vehicles, Toyota recommends these vehicles be serviced every 9* months from the date of purchase OR 15,000km, whichever occurs first. All other Toyota vehicles require servicing every 6 months from the date of purchase OR 10,000km, whichever occurs first.

*9 month service interval effective for January 2009 compliance plates and onwards. For vehicles prior to this, the service interval is 12 months.

If I don’t do many kilometres each year, why should I service on the time specified in my Warranty & Service Book?

Your Toyota has a recommended optimum service interval that depends as much on time and driving conditions as it does on distance. But the fact is, how often your car needs to be serviced has as much to do with how you drive, as it does how far you drive. Repeated, short, stop-start journeys, for example, are one of the hardest forms of work an engine can endure.

Since the engine doesn't get up to optimal operating temperature for any real period of time it can't burn off the by-products of combustion. So condensation and acids build up in the oil reducing its efficiency to lubricate which, in turn, can lead to premature engine wear and possible engine failure.

If you don't do a lot of kilometres you should have your Toyota serviced according to the recommended time based service intervals. Alternatively, if you use your car more regularly and drive more than the average distance then your car's servicing should be based on the recommended distance travelled.

What happens if I miss a service?

With Toyota Service Advantage you are entitled to up to 4 services for Camry and Aurion and up to 6 services for all remaining vehicles over 3 years / 60,000 km (whichever occurs first). Each scheduled service must be claimed within 135 days of the due date for Camry and Aurion or 7,500km either side of the specified interval. For all other vehicles the scheduled service must be claimed within 90 days of the due date and 5,000km either side of the specified interval. It is important to note that missing a service or prolonging time between services, means that you may not benefit from the total number of available services under Service Advantage. Also, there is the potential to affect your vehicle's operating performance which may lead to costly repairs down the track. Should you miss a service due date, please talk to your Service Centre for recommendations.

I sell my car every 2 years/40,000kms. Is Service Advantage transferable?

Toyota Service Advantage stays with the vehicle when on-sold to subsequent owners. It cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

I have recently bought a second hand Toyota. Is it eligible for Toyota Service Advantage?

If you purchase a pre-owned Toyota vehicle it may have unclaimed Service Advantage services remaining.

Can I still take the car to my local mechanic?

Eligible vehicles can be serviced outside the Toyota Dealer network, however, Toyota Service Advantage pricing can only be guaranteed if the vehicle is serviced at a Toyota Dealer.

Competitive, capped pricing is not the only benefit of visiting your Toyota dealer for servicing; don't forget about the Toyota trained technicians, specialised equipment and Toyota genuine parts, all together giving you peace of mind that your vehicle will run as well as it can, for as long as it can.

Warning: Non Genuine Parts can affect your ability to claim under the Toyota Warranty. It is important to note that if a non-genuine part is fitted to your Toyota and that part's failure or the incorrect fitting damages your vehicle, then such damage may not be covered by your Toyota Warranty.
