Kluger features world class passive safety

World class passive safety

Kluger's seven airbags are just a part of the considerable passive safety features that are built into this car. Designed to help protect you and your family if you're ever involved in an accident, these safety enhancements include energy-absorbing pads in the door trim to reduce impact to the chest and abdominal areas in the event of a side collision.

The front and centre pillars of the car have been reinforced, as have the roof, the floor, the rear suspension and the under-body. Material with an energy-absorbing structure has also been used on the inside of the interior pillar and roof to reduce the risk of head injuries.

Minimising whiplash

Kluger comes fitted with Toyota's advanced Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) system, as standard on all models. In the event of a rear-end collision, active head restraints fitted to the front seats activate when your lower back suddenly presses against the backrest. The head restraints move slightly forward cradling the back of your head, reducing stress on the neck and minimising the occurrence and severity of a whiplash injury.

All seats in Kluger have three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts to keep everyone in their place. Clever front seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters provide added protection in frontal accidents by instantly tightening to secure occupants. The force limiters gradually release to relieve the pressure on the upper body to reduce the risk of injuries to the chest.

Chances are you'll never see all of Kluger's safety features in action, but it's always reassuring to know they're there when you might need them.
