Traction Control (TRC)
It's a frightening but all too common scenario. You're on your way home from a day out with the family with a full car load on board. It's pouring with rain, and you're stuck behind an old truck that's not even doing 40km/h in a 60km/h zone.
When it's finally clear for you to pass, you push down hard on the accelerator. But instead of swiftly moving forwards, your wheels begin to spin resulting in a loss of traction and control.
This is all due to loss of traction, which is the grip your tyres have on the road. And on wet, icy or even sandy road surfaces, the degree of traction between your tyres and the road is dramatically reduced.
Loss of traction in this scenario should never be a problem for a grippy AWD. It can become an issue on extremely slippery roads, or when you have to tackle different road surfaces on either side of the car.
Fortunately even in situations like this Kluger's Traction Control (TRC) system can help maintain as much grip on the road as possible - whatever the surface.
Improved grip
TRC helps improve the tyres' grip on the road in poor driving conditions. It automatically kicks in when you're accelerating on difficult surfaces, or when the surfaces differ from one side of the vehicle to the other.
As soon as the system detects that one or more wheels are starting to spin, Traction Control applies a braking force to those drive wheels, braking each wheel independently and reducing engine power, helping the tyres grip the road more securely.
Think of it as the reverse of Anti-skid Braking - Traction Control helps you avoid wheel spin while accelerating. The system automatically adjusts whilst also reducing the engine power to the wheels that are spinning.
Traction Control (TRC)
System designed to maximise safety when accelerating on slippery road surfaces or when the available grip differs from one side of the vehicle to the other (such as when two wheels are on a gravel or grass verge). Operated by controlling the throttle and/or applying the brakes to any wheel that is slipping.
