The Environment and Toyota
The Toyota Prius is a showcase for innovation. More than just a textbook example of advanced engineering, Prius embodies the overall philosophy of sustainability that drives the development of the world's biggest car maker.
Toyota is dedicated to minimising its impact on the environment, in everything from the way its cars are made to their ongoing use of natural resources to their contribution to safety and their impact on the roads. Toyota focuses on sustainability in three key areas:
- Technology - Toyota employs technological innovation aimed at improving performance of existing internal combustion engines, while at the same time researching the use of new types of engines and energy sources and improvements in car component design. They also emphasise advances in safety technologies that improve driver and passenger comfort.
- Manufacturing - Around the world, Toyota is building sustainable manufacturing plants that blend in with the natural environment and are powered by natural energy sources like solar and wind power. They also employ energy conservation and resource-saving processes that eliminate waste, inconsistencies and unreasonable requirements, while maintaining product quality.
- Social contribution - Toyota aims to be a good corporate citizen and is globally active in issues involving the environment, traffic safety, education and arts, culture and community care.
Our aim is to minimise the impact of Toyota vehicles on the environment and do what we can to reduce things such as traffic congestion and traffic accidents, while maximising the fun, comfort and convenience of owning and driving a Toyota.
