Advanced Safety Technology
At Toyota, safety is one of our top priorities. That's why our designers and engineers equipped Camry with an array of active safety systems, to help keep you out of harm's way, and passive safety systems, to help protect you should a collision occur.
Whether you choose an all-petrol model or one of the Camry Hybrids, you can be sure we have devoted a great deal of time and technology to keeping you safe on the road.
With a host of safety features and a robust 'Safe T Cell' structure, Camry has been awarded the maximum 5 Star ANCAP safety rating.

High Tensile Steel Structure - Toyota Safe T Cell
High tensile steel panels in Camry help to ensure the integrity of the cabin area in a collision and form a protective shield around driver and passengers.
Camry features height adjustable, three point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts for the driver and the front passenger, while three point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) and Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR) belts feature in rear seats, Camry also now features seatbelt warning indicator's for all occupants.
Keeping the kids safe when driving is simple in the Camry with three dedicated anchor points in rear seats to securely fix the child seat in place and in the optimum position.
7th Generation Camry has seven SRS airbags including driver's knee airbag.
Brake System
Camry has Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i) . This incorporates Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) , Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) .
Camry's tyres have been specifically developed to meet our designers' tight specifications. As a result they provide exceptionally good grip, which improves ride and handling.
Traction Control on Camry helps you get away smoothly even on uneven or slippery surfaces.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
Toyota Camry is equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to give more control and enhance traction during acceleration and cornering.
Parking Sensors[B4]
Because many small accidents occur when parking, Camry Atara SL and Camry HL feature two rear sonar parking sensors[B4] that give an audible warning when you're approaching too close to other cars or other objects.
Reverse Camera[B4]
Camry Atara and Camry Hybrid models have a rear view camera[B4] that shows exactly what's behind you (optional on Camry Altise). Camry Atara SL and Camry Hybrid Luxury feature a 7" touch-screen and back guide monitor with path-prediction reference lines which displays an image of what's behind you, helping to avoid accidents before they happen.
In a Camry first, Atara SL and Camry HL are fitted with Blind Spot Monitor[B4] . You can't always see what's coming, but these models have eyes where you don't.
Even with properly adjusted side mirrors, adjacent vehicles may enter blind spot areas that are outside of the driver's view. Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)[B4] uses radars to monitor these blind spots. Should you indicate to change lanes, the system will alert you to vehicles that are hiding in the blind spot zones, via illuminating warning indicators on the appropriate side mirror. Knowing what's around your vehicle is key to safer, confident driving.
Automatic High Beam[B6]
Camry Atara SL and Camry Hybrid Luxury feature Automatic High Beam[B6] technology, which is designed to automatically switch the headlights from high beam to low beam when it detects the headlights of approaching vehicles or the tail lights of vehicles in front.
As soon as rain starts to fall enough to affect the driver's vision, rain sensing wipers in Camry Atara SL and Camry HL, cut in automatically.
Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR)
Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts are sensitive to the motion of the vehicle and automatically lock on sudden stop or collision, helping to keep driver and passengers safe.
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i)
Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i) is a system designed to help stop quickly and safely in an emergency. The AB-i system uses continuous feedback from sensors in the wheels to ensure that brakeforce is applied as effectively as possible whatever the driving conditions.
ABS (Anti-Skid Braking System)
Modern electronics and a hydraulic actuator compares and adjusts wheel speeds when braking to prevent wheel lock-up and hence a potential skid.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is a system that maximises braking efficiency. It senses the weight distribution of the vehicle and redistributes the braking to each wheel so that the wheels with most weight on them receive the most brakeforce.
Brake Assist (BA)
A system designed to assist the driver in emergency braking, where the driver cannot apply the high pedal force required to obtain the shortest possible braking distance. It supplements the braking power applied if the driver has not pushed hard enough on the brake pedal in an emergency braking situation - working in conjunction with ABS.
Traction Control (TRC)

System designed to maximise safety when accelerating on slippery road surfaces or when the available grip differs from one side of the vehicle to the other (such as when two wheels are on a gravel or grass verge). Operated by controlling the throttle and/or applying the brakes to any wheel that is slipping. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
System that ensures control in cornering situations the way ABS does under braking and TRC does under acceleration. The VSC system utilises electronic sensors in conjunction with the ABS and TRC hardware to help control any potential understeer or oversteer situations. Understeer is when the vehicle loses front-wheel traction and wants to push forward nose first. Oversteer is when the rear wheels lose traction and the tail begins to slide.
Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)[B4]

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)[B4] uses radar to monitor the car's blind spots. It indicates if there is another vehicle hidden by a blind spot and creates a warning indication in the appropriate side mirror. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
[B4] Reversing Camera, Park Assist, Sonar Parking and Blind Spot Monitor are designed as driver assist devices only and should not be used as substitutes for skilled driving and/or safe parking practices. The area into which the vehicle is to be driven must be visually monitored by the driver.
