New Engine Package for Maximum Power
The powerful new Camry Altise and the Camry Atara range come with a new 2.5L, performance-tuned engine, packed with advanced, performance-enhancing technology.
The dual VVT-i engine technology automatically controls the timing of the engine's inlet and exhaust valves to ensure that whatever the driving conditions. Stop start traffic, winding country lanes or high-speed motorway journeys - the engine works to maximum efficiency and generate maximum power.
And there are more technical advancements which help to deliver improved performance - there's a new high-efficiency intake port design, an Acoustic Control (ACIS) Variable Intake manifold, low-tension piston rings, roller rocker arms, multi-point oil jets and a variable output oil pump. These advances result in less friction and, combined with VVT-i efficiency improvements, produce a significant increase in power.
Camry Altise generates max power of 133kW at 6,000 rpm, 13.7% more powerful than before, and the new Camry Atara grades generate max power of 135kW at 6,000 rpm, 15.4% more powerful than previous Camry models. Altise delivers 6% more torque and Atara models deliver 7.8% more torque across the range compared to previous model Camry∞.
New hybrid
Camry H and HL are powered by an all-new hybrid engine package, which teams a 2.5 L petrol engine with an advanced electric motor. The full hybrid system uses Toyota's world leading Hybrid Synergy DriveŽ technology which intelligently monitors power requirements and automatically supplies the optimum balance of electric and petrol drive accordingly.
The 2.5 Litre petrol engine combines with the advanced electric motor to generate 151 kW in overall power and significantly increases torque at all engine speeds∞ - at low engine speeds torque is increased by 20%∞. Combined with the efficiency of Toyota's electronic continuously variable transmission, this ensures dynamic acceleration, especially from a standing start.
