All-new Toyota Camry- ride and handling, car performance

Dynamic Performance

The new Camry range is designed to deliver dynamic performance along with truly sophisticated ride and handling.

New 2.5L Dual VVT-i Engine

With a powerful, new 2.5L dual VVT-i low-friction engine, new Camry Altise and the Camry Atara range have more muscle than ever before. New Camry Altise is 13.7% more powerful∞ and all-new Camry Atara grades are 15.4% more powerful∞ than previous model Camry.

All this power is fed through a new, electronically controlled, six speed sequential transmission and in Atara grades there's also quick-response paddle shift technology that allows you to switch instantly from full automatic to Sports mode with semi-automatic manual shifting. So Camry is now more dynamic and more responsive than ever.

Powerful Hybrid Engine

Camry H and Camry HL are equipped with a powerful new hybrid engine unit. This teams a dynamic new 2.5L petrol engine with an advanced electric motor using Toyota's world leading Hybrid Synergy DriveŽ technology and delivers more power along with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions than previous models.

The engine unit in Camry H and Camry HL is a full hybrid with both power units able to drive the car separately or together. The intelligently controlled system reacts to the driving situation to deliver the most efficient combination of electric and petrol driven power. So during acceleration the petrol engine provides most of the power, while at cruising speeds the electric motor shares the burden and in stop start traffic can even take over completely reducing emissions to zero#. This is why Camry H and Camry HL can deliver truly dynamic performance at the same time as excellent fuel economy.

Many vehicles that claim to be hybrids fall short of genuine power sharing - with the electric motor only adding extra power from time to time, without ever taking over from the petrol engine. So unlike Camry H and Camry HL, they are less efficient, especially in urban driving conditions, burn fuel all the time they are in use and can never reduce emissions to zero.

Improved Aerodynamics

All-new Camry has been designed with aerodynamics in mind, utilising airflow technology inspired by Formula 1 racing. Vortex generating aero fins are designed to help the car hug the road, are featured on the side mirror mounts, tail lamps as well as on the underbody of the car. This helps ensure straight-line stability and ride composure - in other words, helps deliver a superior ride.

How do Vortex Generating Fins Work?

As air flows over the surface of the moving vehicle, friction can cause it to tumble over and under itself, increasing drag and creating erratic air pressure forces around the vehicle. Vortex generators alter the airflow before it comes turbulent, creating a series of controlled spins or vortices, that help to equalise air pressure forces, reducing drag and improving the vehicle's stability.

Electric Power Steering

All new Camry is fitted with electric power steering across the range. This system automatically adjusts the amount of extra steering assistance so that you always have a positive, responsive steering feel in all driving situations. At low speeds such as when parking, EPS offers more assistance, making the car easy to manoeuver, while at higher speeds, it provides less assistance to give the driver better feed back and truer 'road-feel'.

Improved aerodynamics, an all-new chassis and Electric Power Steering results in positive, dynamic ride and handling across the entire range, in all motoring situations.
