Increased Engine Size

The Camry Altise and the Camry Atara range are powered by a dual VVT- i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence)  2.5L petrol engine that generates more muscle than ever before.

Camry Altise is 13.7% more powerful and Camry Atara grades are 15.4% more powerful than previous Camry model and Altise delivers 6% more torque while Atara grades all deliver 7.8% more torque [B13]  .

The engine is coupled with a six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission and in Atara grades (excluding Atara R), there's paddle shift technology with throttle blipping control for more responsive driving.

Dual VVT-i Engine

The Dual VVT-i  engine technology automatically controls the timing of the engine's inlet and exhaust valves to ensure that whatever the driving conditions - stop start traffic, winding country lanes, high speed motorway - the engine works to maximum efficiency.

Technical Innovations

Camry's engine has several clever technical innovations that improve performance and efficiency. It has a high-efficiency intake port design, an Acoustic Control (ACIS) Variable Intake manifold, low-tension piston rings, roller rocker arms, multi-point oil jets and a variable output oil pump.

Combined with the efficiency improvements created by the Dual VVT-i  engine technology, the result is a quieter, more powerful, more fuel-efficient unit, which creates fewer emissions [G1]  .
