Features Overview
Camry. More Powerful, Better Looking.
Camry has built a strong reputation in Australia - securing a place as the nation's favourite mid-sized sedan.
Built in Australia at our state of the art Altona manufacturing plant in Melbourne, the 7th generation Camry takes a car that's brilliant down to the last detail, and makes it even better.
Offering four different petrol variants and two hybrids, the 7th generation Camry stable includes the ever-popular Altise model, Camry Atara S, Atara SL and Atara SX, plus Camry H and Camry HL.
Adding to the prestigious and progressive feel, Camry boasts a low-wide dynamic exterior that enhances the strong athletic appearance. With impressive performance and low fuel consumption, Camry exceeds your expectations like never before.
Exterior Styling
Camry has an aerodynamic design. The lower grille, sleek headlights and bumpers at front and rear, have been reshaped, helping to create a strong, crouching stance for the vehicle.
In Altise models the oversized front grille has a silver metal finish, while in Atara models the headlamps and mesh grille combine with wide chrome accented lower grilles to add to the car's sense of width. Atara SX models also have unique bezel headlamps but no chrome accent on the lower grille.
Camry Hybrid models feature a wide lower grille design with no chrome accents. In Camry HL and Atara models, the car's wide stance is further emphasised by wide-placed fog lamps.
Camry Altise and Camry Atara are driven by a powerful 2.5L dual VVT- i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) engine with a six speed transmission. While Camry H and Camry HL are powered by a 2.5L Hybrid Engine which generates more power and more torque than previous Camry Hybrid models (up to 20% more torque at low speeds[B13]), improving midrange acceleration and adding to the overall drivability of the cars.
There's a chassis and steering package, which includes Electric Power Steering (EPS) . Camry also has an aerodynamically designed under-body (inspired by Formula 1 racing technology), which creates a vortex effect that generates down-force and increases stability.
The interior of the Camry has been completely redesigned to create more space and a modern stylish feel. Slimmer pillars, slimmer seats, slimmer door trims and re-shaped seat cushions, mean more head-space and more driver leg room. There's also 46mm more passenger knee space behind the driver. (This is true whether you choose an all-petrol model or one of the hybrids, underlining the fact that choosing Camry H or Camry HL involves absolutely no compromise in comfort or space whatsoever. These models now also have significantly more boot space than the previous Camry Hybrid model).
Camry basically offers a more comfortable ride for everyone in the vehicle, across the entire range.
While a split-form instrument panel and intricate details such as silver highlights, create a relaxed, prestige environment.
Camry features a full suite of active and passive safety technologies to help keep you safe. These include seven SRS airbags including a driver's knee airbag, a seat belt warning indicator for all occupants and a Reverse Camera[B4] (camera optional on Altise model).
All Camry models are equipped with advanced active car safety technology. This includes Electric Power Steering (EPS) with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) , Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) , Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) , Brake Assist (BA) and Traction Control (TRC) .
Camry Atara SL and Camry HL come with safety features you'd expect only to see on luxury vehicles such as Automatic High Beam[B6] designed to automatically dip the headlights for you when another vehicle is approaching (activated only when you have your high beam switched on). These grades also feature Blind Spot Monitor[B4] which alerts you when other vehicles are in your blind spot zones.
Camry doesn't just have a superb audio unit with up to ten speakers (depending on the model). It has a multi-media hub that offers Bluetooth™[B5] connectivity for media streaming and hands-free mobile calls, a USB[G5] input for selected iPod®[G8] models and other devices and an AUX jack for MP3 players[G5] . There's also a 6.1" touchscreen control with a Reverse Camera[B4] (optional on Camry Altise). And in Camry Atara SL and Camry HL, there's a 7" touchscreen control, Digital Radio (DAB+)[B3] , Satellite Navigation[N1] and SUNA™ live traffic data updates[G7].
Camry is serious about cutting fuel costs and reducing CO2 emissions. Not only is the 2.5L Dual VVT-i engine in Altise and Atara grades highly efficient and delivers serious power, but has reduced emissions.
Put your foot down and you'll find Camry really moves, but you'll find the fuel gauge dropping a lot slower than you might expect, with up to 7.8L/100km[G1].
Camry H and Camry HL are powered by a 2.5L Hybrid Engine which is significantly more efficient than the previous Hybrid Camry model. As a result Camry H and Camry HL are more powerful and emit lower emissions (121gm/km)[G1] plus offering better fuel efficiency with 5.2L/100km[G1]. And it gets better. With 'ECO' mode, which automatically optimises fuel use at low speeds and EV Drive Mode, which allows drivers to use more battery power and less fuel at the press of a button.
The Camry Advantage
Camry comes with up to five capped - price logbook services for the first four years or 75,000km, whichever comes first[T8]. And of course like every new Toyota, Camry is backed by a 3 year/100,000km warranty[T4] for peace of mind and care free motoring.
8 year battery warranty
On top of this Camry Hybrid and Camry Hybrid Luxury also provide an 8 year battery warranty[W1].
World Leading Hybrid Synergy Drive® Technology
Camry H and Camry HL are powered by Toyota's world leading Hybrid Synergy DriveŽ technology. This is a full Hybrid System in which, unlike many hybrids, the electric motor and the petrol engine can power the car individually or together. The system combines a powerful 2.5L petrol engine with an advanced electric motor and delivers truly dynamic performance while generating significantly lower emissions and better fuel economy than the previous Hybrid Camry model.
Toyota's advanced technology and innovative design mean that Camry H and Camry HL offer all the benefits of superb fuel economy, and ultra low emissions[G1] especially in the urban cycle, with no compromise in performance, handling, comfort or space.
Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i)

Toyota engine system that provides continual variations of the intake valve timing to provide optimal valve timing for the full range of driving conditions. It improves driveability, performance and fuel efficiency, and reduces emissions. Dual VVT-i provides even greater improvement, by independently varying exhaust valve timing as well as intake timing. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD)

The Hybrid Synergy Drive developed by Toyota integrates the desirable elements of a petrol engine and an electric motor. It uses the spontaneous high torque from the electric motor from rest for starting. For cruising in the high-speed range, it utilizes the efficient power of the petrol engine. The management system carefully selects the optimum combination of the petrol engine and electric motor in order to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
Electric Power-assisted Steering (EPS)
System in which an electric motor attached to the steering rack or shaft provides power assistance - in place of the conventional hydraulic assist system. The electric motor only consumes energy when power assistance is required (i.e. when the steering wheel is turned), thereby saving energy and fuel. The more straight-road driving, the greater the fuel saving. EPS eliminates the need for a hydraulic pump, hydraulic pipes, pulleys and belt, and power-steering fluid in the steering system. It therefore offers reduced service costs and environmental benefits, as well as saving fuel.
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)

Reverse Camera[B4]

Reverse camera[B4] displays the area at the rear of the vehicle on a screen, when the vehicle is in reverse. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
[B4] Reversing Camera, Park Assist, Sonar Parking and Blind Spot Monitor are designed as driver assist devices only and should not be used as substitutes for skilled driving and/or safe parking practices. The area into which the vehicle is to be driven must be visually monitored by the driver.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
System that ensures control in cornering situations the way ABS does under braking and TRC does under acceleration. The VSC system utilises electronic sensors in conjunction with the ABS and TRC hardware to help control any potential understeer or oversteer situations. Understeer is when the vehicle loses front-wheel traction and wants to push forward nose first. Oversteer is when the rear wheels lose traction and the tail begins to slide.
ABS (Anti-Skid Braking System)
Modern electronics and a hydraulic actuator compares and adjusts wheel speeds when braking to prevent wheel lock-up and hence a potential skid.
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is a system that maximises braking efficiency. It senses the weight distribution of the vehicle and redistributes the braking to each wheel so that the wheels with most weight on them receive the most brakeforce.
Brake Assist (BA)
A system designed to assist the driver in emergency braking, where the driver cannot apply the high pedal force required to obtain the shortest possible braking distance. It supplements the braking power applied if the driver has not pushed hard enough on the brake pedal in an emergency braking situation - working in conjunction with ABS.
Traction Control (TRC)

System designed to maximise safety when accelerating on slippery road surfaces or when the available grip differs from one side of the vehicle to the other (such as when two wheels are on a gravel or grass verge). Operated by controlling the throttle and/or applying the brakes to any wheel that is slipping. Image shown for illustration purposes only.
Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)[B4]

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)[B4] uses radar to monitor the car's blind spots. It indicates if there is another vehicle hidden by a blind spot and creates a warning indication in the appropriate side mirror.
