Steering control
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) delivers steering control and precision
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) enhances driving feel and handling, delivering superior steering control, better weighting and increased responsiveness in all conditions.
During certain situations, EPS and VDIM communicate through a Cooperative Control function to integrate their systems for more precise steering assistance to the driver. Together they can increase resistance to an incorrect steering decision, while at the same time provide assistance in the correct direction.
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) provides steering assist control in under-steering and over-steering situations, such as when you're cornering on gravel roads, driving in wet conditions or negotiating a tight bend. It also comes into play when you accelerate or brake where the level of grip varies between the right and left-hand wheels.
Advanced control counters skidding and swerving
For the most part, Electronic Power Steering plays no part in your driving. But during uncertain situations, such as skidding, sweriving, over or under-steer, or loss of traction, you'll appreciate the assistance.
If you approach a corner too rapidly, Toyota's Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) will sense and then attempt to compensate for potential over- or under-steer. VSC will intervene to apply resistance where required, supplemented with assistance to bring you back on track.
Working together as VDIM; Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC) and Electric Power Steering (EPS) provide a smoother, safer ride in your Hybrid Camry. The cooperative use of braking , engine output adjustments and steering control minimises the potential for a loss of control and deliver superior handling and driver feel.
