High Tensile Steel

1500 MPa grade hot-pressed sheet steel has been used for the roof centre reinforcement. And 980 MPa high tensile strength sheet steel has been used in the roof side rails, front header and centre pillar reinforcement.


The points where load is transmitted from the suspension to the vehicle, such as the front side members and rear floor side members, have been reinforced. The 86 has a strut tower bar and an aluminium engine under cover to strengthen rigidity.

Pagoda Roof

The 86's strong pagoda roof structure helps ensure the rigidity of the body shell at the same time keeping weight down.

Lightweight Panels

For strength and rigidity, the 86 features high strength, lightweight sheet steel body panels and the bonnet is made from sheet aluminium.
